Underground Modular Stormwater Harvesting System Installation Guide

 To install an underground modular stormwater harvesting system, we need the following material:

1. Geocellular Modular Tank, which is also called stormwater modular blocks, or rainwater modules, soakaway crates, rainwater crates,  modular infiltration tank, etc. here we will use our Doctor Rain brand 60T modular soakaway crates, it is a heavy duty modular block, the load compressive strength is 60 Tons / square meter. This means on a surface of 1 square meter it can withstand 60 Tons compressive strength. The crate size is 1000x500x400mm. As it is of modular design, we can use it to make any sizes of stormwater tank. And because we can install the storm water tank underground, we can still the space above the tank.

2. Geomembrane. Rainwater Harvesting System is a rainwater reuse system, so we need a materail to keep the water inside the system. And geomembrane is such a water-proof material, water can not pass through it, so it can help us to hold the water inside of the modular tank when it is wrapped with geomembrane.  

3. We will need geotextile to wrap up the tank, the geotextile is water pervious, water can pass through the geotextile. It also provide protection for the geomebrane. In the rainwater harvesting system, we will need two layers of geotextile, and put the geomebrane in the middle of the two layers geotextile, so it won't be pierced by sharp materials.

4. Inspection well. We have designed a inspection well base, with it we can quickly create an inspection well.

5. Pipe connection box. This is a new design belong to our company, with it we can connect the inlet and outlet pipes with the tank system easily.

6. Rainwater Pretreatment Devices. In order to keep the rainwater clean enough and suitable for storage ,we have designed a set of rainwater filters, they are rainwater interception basket device, Initial rainwater abandon device, and rainwater automatic filfter.

7. Pumps, pipes and other materials.

First Step: Prepare a strong foundation.

Important information about module design:

1) When install modular tank, clip the top and bottom module together, The side with

height of 400mm should be installed ( placed ) vertically on the ground, as shown

picture below

This means it must be installed with the side of 400mm high as the height to ensure

maximum strength.

2) The modular tank system can be installed in residential areas, commercial areas,

small vehicle driving areas and to-some-extent high pressure areas (must be topped

with reinforced concrete layer as loading surface, with each side at least 1 meter more

than the excavated rectangular pool edge), for example, under driveways or parking

lots. Module installation under driveways must be supervised by engineers or technical

personnel.

3) The loading strength of the modular tank is tested by authorized departments, with

CIRIA C737 (2016) as test standard. The modular tank are tested with the highest

strength in a controlled, even-soil and static environment.

4) When use the modular tank for rainwater storage, the impact from surrounding

environment shall be taken into consideration, and the loading of tank system must

outweigh the maximum loading of the upper pavement and roads, and meet the related

construction requirements. Safety index of the modules during serving period must be

over 2.0.
